Such another good weekend. Last night Dennis and I grabbed Hiro take-out and ate at Amy's. It's just as good, and you don't have to wait forever to get a table. We saw Vantage Point that evening as well, you should definitely go see it.
Today was a run day. Fun-day, run-day. Dawn, Dennis and I ran the entire lake. Well, we talked twice, but I'd say that isn't bad. It totals about to seven miles. I thought I was going to die near the end of it, but Dennis didn't seemed phased at all. Lucky bastard. I tell myself it's because I don't run very often, which I think may be the case. I am working my way up to the half marathon. Here I come!
After the run and somewhere soon after me falling to the floor, we made sushi. I've never made it before so it was prety good times. We used the following ingredients: crab, smoked salmon, cucumbers, avacado (this was just for me), carrots, thai chips, sausage, snow peas, and lunch meat. I know some of those things sound like a crack head's sushi roll, but they were delicious. And we made enough to feed Tokyo. No seriously, the plate weighed at least five pounds.
Now the weekend is over. My horoscope said that there were will some bad ass things happening on the 28th & 29th that will involve some exploring. Now, I don't think that could be bad at all.
Friday night was Quinn's birthday. Let's just say, nothing but good times happened.
Now, sometime after a couple bottles of wine, Jen, Dennis and I were in some side bedroom. I took my shirt off, then she insisted she show us the attic. She told us no one knew about it and hinted we should stay up there. We did....and so, we came back to the party and everything was a little confusing. I think I needed sleep - and I think I was still wondering why we were in an attic. This last picture has to be after that, because I'm not sure why Dennis is drinking from the bottle and I am getting naked. Anyways, cheers Quinn.
Today has been a good day. I had an interview that I think went pretty well (but I'm still crossing my fingers) and I had lunch with Dennis. We dominated hamburgers and he had an edrink with his meal, which I find to be a little odd. Afterwards we went to the Asian store to pick up things to make sushi. While we were there I found some items to be hilarious...
Oysters as large as a small child...MMM
This looks like something you would feed your dog.
So funny - this snack reads: How delicious it can not forget, special taste, return the ture flavour. Give you the infinite feeling.
Ok, I have something to say about this: A) I was so confused what ture was. Dennis told me it was supposed to be true. B) What is this infinite feeling I'm getting from this?! Whatever it is, I hope it's good.
I saved the best for last. True, his label doesn't read anything humourous, but he does say things that make me laugh.
While standing in line he asked what I wanted in my sushi. I said there has to be avocados in it. And then I asked if we will put salmon in it. He said no. I was informed of the turkey bacon-potato chip-deli meat roll. Doesn't it sound...interesting? Oh, those crazy Asians.
I told Dennis he was my new trainer at the gym. He kept asking me what I wanted to do or work on. I said, just as long as I have muscles like you, I don't really care.
"Do you like to do pull-ups?" "Ummmm...does anybody?"
I know you can imagine I didn't do very many pull-ups. I think they're the devil's work. To top it off my body twitched in weird places when I gave my attempts. I will definately be working on that workout in the future.
Another thing I hate is a lot of people there. I am not very self-conscious, but I feel like an idiot doing certain things in front of people. I am weak in the strength sense, maybe that's what I am uncomfortable about. I haven't figured it out, but whatever it is, I'm sure it'll go away - or at least I hope it does.
I hope he lights the fire under my ass more to work on my fitness, just because I'm so lazy.
it slipped passed, dad sorry my heads been floating in the clouds rolling on the ground so much in the past year the ocean and back among other things ill see you in the car ride to and from everywhere sorry it slipped six years.
Tonight as I was about to start laundry my mom asked me if I wanted to go to church with her. Now, her asking me to go to church is actually her telling me I have to go. The Catholic guilt a mother can put on her child is endless - so, of course I went to church.
As I was sitting listening to the sermon about starting over and washing away your sins, but just the ash cross, it made me wonder. It seems they always focus on people sinning - when do they focus more on the good things that happen (this excludes Easter and Christmas). Maybe it's more like the news, how you only hear of the negative things that happen. This aside, I also wonder why Fat Tuesday is on Tuesday. Why couldn't it be on a better day, like Saturday. You can get a lot more sinning in on a weekend than you could on a weekday. Just a thought.
Now that my sins are wiped clean, I can start being naughty again. I started by eating meat, twice. And there's always dirty thoughts in my head, so there goes some more sins. How do they make it ok to eat fish on Ash Wednesday and Good Fridays, but not beef? I think they need to revamp their ideals.
So many questions, so few answers. I'll just stick to sinning.
Last year Katie asked me to help Metro out with their fall campaign, or maybe it was winter. Anyways, I helped them. I had to dress in business attire and wear my glasses.
While at lunch a couple weeks ago with Nicki and Joe, from work, we were sitting in this Mexican restaurant waiting to order our food. Nicki glances towards the front windows and asked, "Jimmy, why are you in that poster?"
I gave her a crazy, confused look. I too look at the front window, and there I am. I hadn't seen any of the Metro ads that I was in except a small one in the Reader. It makes me laugh. So what else could I do but steal it and hang it up in the back room at work. The funny thing about the poster is that one side is in English, the other in Spanish. Has anyone else noticed that I am the whitest guy alive?
All this makes me think of a story. While in college and in SPO, I brought Danny from the Real World. Molly, Mark and I took him out to lunch after his event. Molly, the question-asker she is asked what he does for a job when he isn't touring colleges. He replied with 'print work.' She asked who he wrote for and he said he didn't write, he did print work. We were all lost. Come to find out, print work is also modeling, but just a fancier name.
So now I can start telling people I do print work. What! What!
Heather posted this on her blog, I've been to lazy to write anything so here is something she wrote about our evening awhile ago.
------------
Tonight, I met Jimmy for dinner.
Upon meeting in the crowded lobby of one our long time haunts, we both started blabbing away. Him about being tired and working too much, me about being tired ... of being tired.
After realizing there was no where to sit actually IN the lobby, we made our way to the bar hoping to find 2 open seats. No such luck.
It was then, after we turned around again to face the lobby, did we come face to face to what can only be described as an uncomfortable situation. A woman was breastfeeding her toddler a mere 5 ft in front of us - if that.
Now, to be clear, I don't have a huge problem with breastfeeding in public. But at that particular second, after a long, stressful day at work - the last thing I want to be confronted with is a stranger's boob in the middle of a crowded Olive Garden.
Just as I turned to Jimmy to give him "the eyes," he said something beautiful: "Hey the thingy is going off!"
As we walked away I asked if he caught sight of the little miracle taking place before us. In true Jimmy fashion, he summed it up best - "Hey, we all gotta eat."
-------------
Now, my take on public breast feeding is that I don't want to see it. I know it's natural and everything, but at the same time, me taking a shit is also natural. Do you see me taking craps in the waiting area of Olive Garden? I didn't think so.
I am over winter. A light snow is nice. Some cold weather where it gives you a chill is also lovely - mainly because you can wear sweaters and scarves. But this cold-to-the-bone, crippling, snot-freezing, "i fucking hate this," run to your car after you get out of the movie kind of weather has got to end. Come on global warming, you make it unbearable in the summer and make us freeze our balls off in the winter. Make up your mind and find a happy medium.
That aside, I saw Sweeny Todd with a small portion of the London group. It was good. I think any story is a good story with music and blood in it. The music is catchy and the make-up and costumes were wonderful. Everyone need to see this.
I also caught a trailer for a new movie called 'The Ruins.' It looks crazy! I'm a sucker for a scary movie, until I actually have to sit and watch it, then I bite all my nails and stare at my crotch the entire movie.
Happy birthday to Garrett and Nancy! I asked Garrett what he wanted for his birthday, he told me he wanted M & M's and snowmen. Now, anyone who wants M & M's for anything is my kind of person, but I still have no idea what to get him...
And tonight we are headed to My Way for Nancy's celebrations, I hear they have shuffleboard!
Meet Ginger. This gal is my new phone, and she likes to be touched. I got it yesterday and I'm still trying to get the hang of her. She's a tricky one. The only thing I wish Ginger had was buttons like the iPhone because this T9 shit pops up and it takes me forever to get it off. I'm not bitter though, it'll just take some time. Buying her did mean signing another two-year contract with Sprint, and I think we know how everyone feels about them!
Why does the Midwest have to be so cold? I mean, there's cold, and then there's Omaha. I guess I shouldn't complain, we could have 10 feet of snow and not be near a Target.
Anyways, this past week was a doozy. I worked 63 hours. I never thought I was even awake for that long. We also had a threat that a customer was going to bring a gun and hold everyone hostage. Now, I know a lot of people are all talk, but with what happened recently, I don't put it past people anymore.
I took two dance/work out classes with Katie - a boot-skootin' country boogie and a hip hop one. I learned I am a white man with no rhythm . Maybe I just need to go a couple more times, but the instructor wanted DRAMA. My arms and moves can't give you drama, honey.
I wrote everyone Christmas cards, but they are sitting on my desk. Some with out addresses, others I'm debating even sending. You see, two people forgot to wish me a happy birthday. I'm not one to hold grudges, but it really pissed me off. I had one unexpected birthday wish, which was nice. Thank you everyone for the presents.
I cleaned my room yesterday. It had about 19 piles of clean and dirty clothes all over the place. I'm in a much better mood when I have a clean room.
In about one hour I'll be 25. What does that mean? Well...I have a mediocre job. I'm not too excited about it. I have good friends. That makes me happy. I recently discovered HyVee carries HoeGaarden - that makes me very happy! I got to travel a lot, another swell thing. All in all, I'd sad 25 isn't looking too bad. I would say cheaper insurance, but that isn't something I pay attention to. Maybe at 25 I will start. Maybe I will get a better job, a meaningful one. Or maybe I will stay aloof and off path. It seems to have worked so far.
Tonight I had dinner with Mary. I love her. We don't get to hang out much and we both live in the same city. Poor excuses! Anyways, dinner was delicious (M's Pub) and on our way out we talked to a very nice Norwegian man who was in town for a wedding. He asked us about Wal-Mart and we told him to stay away. He wouldn't stop talking to us in the 20 degree weather, but I figured it must be a lot colder in Norway, so it doesn't bother him. Tomorrow he is going to some tennis deal at the Qwest center, which he seemed thrilled about. He told us about Vegas and how it's only $20 for a lap dance, as opposed to $100 back home. Oh, the stories of a Norwegian. I wanted to put him in my pocket and keep him for my birthday present, but that might be weird.
If this seems a little dark, I apologize - I get to work 55 hours this week and I have clothes in the wash machine that need taken out. Do you think that will happen? I think both you and I know it won't. Happy birthday to me!
you can find your star if you close your eyes when things go black and you see blood on his hands what do the young ones know not much besides wanting to make a statement like it's the new trend he lost his star but they can still find theirs they're up there waiting i pray you find your star
i like you best stripped down clean where the brushes don't touch you where the crazies turn their backs when you wake up with sleep in your eyes with your hair disheveled when the truth pours from the lips you come from the bible belt with horses and a ranch you're somewhere now with gloss and fags come back from the other side to my side where it's molasses and sweet where i can see the old you i'd like to see the old you
My last Tori show. I love Denver. I was last there over six years ago. I stayed with Josh and he wanted me to see every inch of Denver in my short time. He did a very good job at it, because I am completely drained of energy. I don't know how people can party so much.
As for the meet and greet, it was really nice. Tori saw me and got excited and gave me a bear hug. I find it amazing she remembers me (but really, who could forget this mug?!). I requested Drive All Night, but it didn't come. What she did play was Not David Bowie - I asked her to play it in Denver because it'd be my last show. It was a very good show. It was pretty mellow, but still rocking. She told a story about how Tash, her seven-year-old asked what it meant to be bisexual. She said, 'Well, you know how we have people on tour that our vegetarians. And how we have people who eat meat. Well, a bisexual is something who likes both and can't make up their mind!' Tash replied with, 'Maybe they're just really hungry.'
I wanted to stay longer, but time said no. So long mountains...and Tori.
Alysa and Josh with me and my new bff.
Sunset.
Downtown Denver.
Downtown Denver with the clock tower in the background...so purdy.
Last night was my friend Chad's wedding. I grew up with him since we were knee high to a pig;s eye. We've lost contact after graduating high school and the last time i saw him was my dad's funeral. I am never one to get emotional at weddings, but this one I was. His brother, also the best man, gave his toast and talked about the war. I think this is where it tugged on my heart strings. Chad did one tour in Iraq. When he got back, they sent him back for a second. The idea behind the toast was that he met Andrea and she said she would wait for him. Simple, yes, but it made me a little teary eyed.
I was pumped to see Chad - it had been almost six years. I ran up to him and got "Holy shit! Jimmy Ferrin!" Then he gave me a bear hug. I told him I wanted to join the Marines so I could wear a uniform like his. He also told me I got tall, but he is taller than I.
While sitting at the table I thought of the trouble we'd get into at school. We sat next to each other in Mr. French's english class and Chad would always get in trouble and the teacher would move him. It's so cool to see someone you know grow up to be such an outstanding person. The goof ball, class clown kind of guy was the last I picture joining the military and fighting for our country. Thank you Chad!
Tonight Amy, Erin and I went to House of Collectibles. What is this you ask? Well, as first described to me by Amy, it's a store in this woman's basement who sells expensive items, such as glass, candles, Vera Bradly, and so on. Tonight was my first experience, and let's say it wasn't half bad. I did spend more than I had thought I would, but I got someone a VERY nice present out of the deal. I got my chocolate candle (the most delicious scent known to man), a caramel candle, and this rad metal tree thing that holds tea lights. It was a little odd being in a basement with all sorts of knickknacks and a woman thinking my tattoo was that of an eagle. I forgot to sample the free cookies - sad for me, good for my love handles. I will most likely make a trip back when my chocolate candle burns out.
You all need to see this. It will put you in the best mood and even you'll even get a few tears in your eyes. I don't know why I get so emotional over certain things, but this is one of them. Not even halfway through the film I turned to Amy and told her I would be crying by the end. What do you know, I was.
"I don't talk about the details because I can't, but it's freeing to sing that song [Me And A Gun]. I have to go in a trance to sing it. ... It gets exhausting singing it. But there's so much going on that nobody talks about, and I just found that out with myself after so many years of not talking." Tori Amos - The Washington Post, March 22, 1992
This video has been posted for almost a week (tomorrow). I felt like I should write about it because it seemed to be somewhat of a big deal. It has over 188,500 views, was #2 most viewed for the week (along with 10 other honors), a four-star rating (out of 251 rates), 232 comments, has been favored 325 times, and has been posted by several sites including AOL and Perez Hilton.
I'm thrilled so many people have watched the video and expressed their opinions about it. When I first started filing it I thought it was going to be Blood Roses and had no idea it would go to this extent. I'm not trying to say I'm above it or that I am flaunting in any way, I just thought it needed to be said. Thank you to everyone who watched - who enjoyed it - hated it - felt uncomfortable - and commented.
I had a feeling Omaha's show was going to be really good. I got to do one more VIP meet and greet. She sound checked Parasol and Spark. Both VIP experiences went pretty good. You could hear her sound check (while waiting to go in to see her) Bug A Martini at least six times, She's Your Cocaine and Raspberry Swirl.
The meet and greet went pretty fast, not many people spent time with her. It was nice to know she remembered my name. This time I was not as nervous. I asked for Not David Bowie (for Denver, because I know she is practicing) and Drive All Night (I love, love this song). She told my friend Mollie and I that she doesn't read gossip magazines or web sites because she has to stay clear. Because you can't associate yourself with that; you can't associate art with that. She turns to Neil for creative advice - bouncing ideas off each other. He can tell her if something might come out in a wrong way, or a way that wasn't intended.
Santa's set was rad. During Bug A Martini she poured the boys drinks with a shaker and even came into the crowd to give the sound guys a drink. Every song in this set was amazing. Secret Spell sounded different tonight too.
Tori's set was really good too. Space Dog's intro was beautiful and slowed down. During Father Lucifer she sang the second verse twice and had the Steve McQueen ending. Lust was gorgeous as was the improv followed by Spring Haze.
I was hoping for Drive All Night during T and Bo, but we got Peeping Tommi (sorry Robert, yay for us). BEAUTIFUL! You need to buy the boot just for this alone. I would have loved Toast after this, but Leather is fun. It is actually my first time hearing this out of all my Tori shows.
Digital Ghost is lovely. Code Red was, as always, rockin'. We rushed the stage, which I'm surprised the venue Nazis didn't stop us. Since they would freak out on you if you even got your cell phone out. So this means no photos or videos. They were fuck heads with the whole thing. But Precious, Tear and Jupiter were on key too. She was smiling during the last songs and in a very good mood.
Thank you for a sweet ass show, Tori. Come back any time you want.
I had the Little Earthquakes flat signed in Lawrence. What she wrote is a reference to the Me and A Gun you tube video.
During the meet and greet she asked what I did in Omaha. Did I tell her about our awesome music scene (Saddle Creek) or other entertaining things to do here? No. I told her we like to eat a lot. She laughed. And said, 'No, what do you do?' I told her I worked at a bank but I am still searching for my path. I'm very far off it and have no clue what to do. I have a feeling this is a reference to what I told her. She is a wonderful woman and I believe actually cares about her fans. I never doubted it, but it definitely shined through these last two days. She put this boy in heaven!
Last night was Tori's Lawrence, KS show - and it was amazing! Heather, Michael, Nancy, and I drove down late morning (we were running behind schedule, thanks to me and my organizational skills). I showed off my rapping skills for everyone in the car and gave them a taste of what a male Lil' Kim would sound like.
At 5 p.m. we got to the venue because we had VIP tickets. Heather and I had platinum and Michael and Nancy had gold. What does this mean? Well, we get to view a portion of Tori's sound check (she checked Spark and Concertina - which she goofed up on a bit - but was still very good), you get a goody bag that has the tour program and no hassle merchandise shopping. For Heather and I we also got to have a meet and greet with Tori. It was so nice. The VIP people were fantastic. They were friendly, didn't make us feel rushed and were totally laid back. John Evans wife (Ali?) was really cool too.
While waiting to talk with Tori in a side room, we all chatted about the protesters. John Evans and Dan Phelps walked through to go see them and came back a short while later. It seemed awkward at times because people were opening their heart up and everyone was five feet away.
When it was my turn I couldn't shut up. I'm a talker. I told her (the usual, I'm sure she hears it all the time) how much her music meant to me, especially during the death of my father. I went on to tell her how bad ass her show at the Vic was in Chicago. She said it needed to be done. I told her I was glad I caught Me and A Gun on video so everyone could see. her eyes got big, "You're that guy?!" "Yes!" "Ali, come here - this is the guy who filmed the You Tube video." She helped up the poster flat and said to me, "Did you know it was #2 most viewed?" I said, "Yes, did you know it has over 175,000 views?" It was funny in a way. Then we talked about the importance of that performance. How she was glad one of the dolls (Pip) could portray it in that way - not as a victim when Tori sings it. But in a way where she is taking a stand against rape and violence. She went on to say how she was glad it made people upset and uncomfortable because we have all become so conditioned and comfortable with rape. We've become numb to it. We wrapped it up after a couple high-fives and hugs and I quickly asked, "where is Not David Bowie?!" She smiled and said, "We are practicing - it will come!"
Mother Revolution was amazing, strong and powerful. I felt it fit very nicely since the protesters were outside earlier. Caught A Lite Sneeze was really strong as well.
Frog On My Toe was a nice surprise and Mother was beautiful.
Virginia, Fairytale and Code Red together rocked! I was hoping to get one more encore, but she ended at 11 p.m. Jupiter was lovely as always. I never get tired of it.
I think the crowd was good for the most part. You'll run into rowdy people everywhere you go, but this show wasn't bad. What was bad was the drive home. All I wanted was a Diet Coke from McDonald's (and maybe a $1 double cheeseburger), but we passed the only open one in between Lawrence and Omaha. I still made it, thanks to a couple Lil' Kim songs.
It started. Well, for me it started - Tori's American Doll Posse tour. I flew to Chicago Saturday evening to catch up with a few friends. I was so pumped - I hadn't seen Tori since Chicago on the Original Sinsuality tour.
The first show at the Auditorium was beautiful. Brian and Alex came with me. At first I had to drag Alex, but I knew he was going to love it. We had really good seats for it being in the balcony. It was directly in the center of the first balcony, just a couple rows back.
Santa's entire set - even Secret Spell. It's so much better that the album version. Body and Soul - it's just so sexy. Raspberry Swirl was very nice. It's good to see she keeps her dance moves around.
Everyone Knows the Trouble I've Seen Improv - tnskiper
"Everyone knows the trouble I've seen" improv - it lasted a good three minutes. I know, I know - not many care for China or Cooling. But tonight was much different. It was the most beautiful versions of the two I have heard. The addition of the 'brambles' on Cooling defiantly steps it up a notch.
I was a little sad to see only one encore. But I knew the next evening would be amazing.
The next night's show was at the Vic. It was quite cozy and filthy - if it can be both. I felt bad for making Brian stand through the entire show while he was sick - but I had pretty good seats (by seats I mean standing position being about 10 feet away from stage).
Cruel
Pip came out and rocked everyone's faces off. Her entire set was bad ass. It's such raw emotion and energy. Me and A Gun was intense. She killed it for it being the first time with the band. My heart kinda stopped after she pulled the knife and was dragging it all over her body. Her hair sticking to her sweaty neck and chest.
Me and A Gun
Tori's set was also amazing. I love, love, love Liquid Diamonds. I love the new jazz feel she added to it. Her solo set was beautiful. Winter always makes me think of my dad, so it hit the heart strings a bit. After the song when the lights dimmed you could see Tori wiping tears from her eyes. She was afraid of 'fucking up' Happy Phantom so she waved for everyone to sing along.
Digital Ghost was lovely, it makes me think of a certain someone. The closing of Jupiter was phenominal. I could hear it every show and never get tired of it. You know it's good when spit is pouring from her mouth. So hot.
Out of the two shows I would have to say the one at the Vic had more energy. Maybe it was because I was so close. Maybe it was the intense songs from Pip's set. Who knows. I'm just so happy I got to be apart of it.
This is Alex. Isn't he dreamy?
For all the photos I took at the second show, go here.
And, for a fun fact, if you'd like to call it that, the video of Me and A Gun has been viewed 52,538 times on youtube, making it the #3 most viewed music video for the day and the #22 profile viewed. Go me!
Last night was Halloween, obviously. I hurried home from work but missed the kids before they left to trick or treat. When they came home they were beat. Gavin was telling Todd that he didn't think he could get anymore candy because his bucket was full. What this really meant was that he was tired and wanted to go home.
Dawn and Todd got Garrett to say 'ARRR' like a pirate. He was so cute. I tried to teach him to say 'ARRR' and give the pirate hook, but he never caught on.
Ellerie was a ghost. I think she kind of looks like a weird Asian boy in this picture, but she was very cute.
Gavin was Venom (NOT Spiderman!). I taught him his web comes from the wrists and not the hand. Dawn told him this same thing, but he listened to me. Maybe because I am the greatest uncle ever.
I thought this was one of the best costumes of the night. I don't know MySpace page's name but he was happy to pose.
Sean was a good looking super hero, of the Ambiguously Gay Duo.
Dawn said she was casting a spell on my penis. I told her not to!
Brian came in town to visit his parents. Funny how I'll see him in just two days again in Chicago.
I loved Storm. At first I thought it was a real girl, but upon closer inspection it was definitely a boy. Still, his costume was bangin.
Matty was not a robot, and he should have been. He went as a California burn victim. He and Brad won first place. I told him that was bad.
I went as a boy scout. I spent too much money on something I'll wear only once. Unless some fella has a weird fetish of boy scouts, then I can pull it out for another go. Or maybe I could enroll in Boy Scouts. I did it once, well, I was a cub scout, which is basically the same. I don't think I could ever tie a knot. Or sleep a tent without complaining. I did want a lot of patches, or badges, I don't know what they call them. Maybe I'll work on getting some, so I can come back as a better boy scout next year.
I finally have it. My Tree of Knowledge. This may not be the best photo of it, but you get the idea. It took 3.5 hours (1.5 of him drawing it free-hand). I love it. Oh, trees.
Last weekend I attended Meghan and Kevin's wedding in Chicago. It was a wonderful time. Everything was beautiful - from the bride to the decorations, and down to caramel apples as a gift to the guests. Open bar found me with my short off showing Ashley and a few select others my new tattoo. The only thing that could have been better was to hear Bette Davis Eyes and shake my groove thing to it.
That night Alex and I found an iPhone in our cab. I made him give it back. He also ate a breakfast sandwhich from 7-11. Not having those here made me worry that he was eating something with 'egg' in it. I have always thought of them as gas stations, but they are a step above.
The next day we went to one of my favorites, Bongo Room. Alex thought Wicker Park as trashy and ghetto. I happen to enjoy it. That night we went to have dinner with the group and headed over to Wrigleyville for drinks. It was insanely busy and we saw lots of people dressed at bananas.
Every time I visit Chicago I get an itch to move there. Maybe that itch will go away, maybe not. Maybe someday (soon?) I will become a resident. Anyways, congrats Meghan and Kevin!
According to The iPod Death Clock, my lady has about 282 days and 9 minutes left before her battery bites the dust.
You just enter your serial number and answer how much you use it and if it's been dropped and it gives you the remaining time of your iPod's life. I hope they are wrong!
I am going to one more Tori show! She added a second Chicago date! It's general admission so that means first come first serve. I'll be all up in her wig.
Saturday evening I took my mom on a date to see Elton John. Even though I live at home I never spend any time with her. So I thought this would be perfect.
After parking we herded ourselves with thousands of others up the stairs to scan our tickets. As we walked past the gates I made awkward eye contact with two men who were standing and staring. As we walk past them, they stop us.
"Are you guys big Elton fans?" "Umm...YEAH!" "Is this your sister?" "Oh yeah right!" (Jan) "Where are your seats?" "Somewhere behind the stage." "Is that the best you could do?" Baffled as to how to respond, "I guess?" "Well how would you like two front row tickets!?" "SHUT UP!"
It was pretty amazing. I wasn't sure if I should believe the men or not. We made our way to the bottom of the arena and to the front. Never have I had such great tickets to a concert before (Little Brazil, Art In Manila and Margot excluded). He came out a little past 8 with Funeral For A Friend. Just beautiful. I was still in awe with the seats and couldn't believe he was only 12 paces away from me.
My favorite past of the show was during Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rocket Man (which had a rockin' jam session in the middle of it and lasted over 10 minutes) and Daniel. All three in a row and three of my favorites. Those songs to me tug on my heart strings for different reasons. He dedicated Tiny Dancer to all the ladies in the audience and did the original Candle In The Wind.
